What You’ll Do

You'll identify and implement potential solutions for a specific client problem or challenge. Together, with teams of 3-5 consultants, you will help clients make lasting improvements to their performance and realize their most important goals. 

Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations. You'll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members. In some cases, you will be asked to travel to your client site.

While all consultants develop specialized knowledge as they progress with McKinsey, most are initially broad in their focus, meaning they do not need specific industry or functional expertise to be successful. For consultants who join McKinsey as experienced professionals, this can mean building on previous knowledge or developing experience in an area that is completely new. 

Program Eligibility: 

We are looking for active duty service members who are 

• U.S. citizens and hold at least one of these qualifications: bachelor’s, master’s, PhD, or MBA degree
• Have planned EAS dates between May and end of August 2027
• 10-week availability starting March 5, 2027 and approval from unit commander to participate in the full program for the full duration. For more information on eligibility, please visit the SkillBridge Website. You do not need to have command approval before you can apply to the McKinsey Military Fellowship program, however approval is a requirement before you start with McKinsey. We understand the potential challenges and delays in obtaining command approval, so we can be as flexible as needed while we wait for approvals.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and create an inclusive environment with people at all levels of an organization
• Capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader team project
• Comfort with ambiguous, ever-changing situations
• Ability to break down and solve problems through quantitative thinking and analysis
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Certifies that he/she will perform in accordance with and fully comply with 18 U.S.C. § 208, 18 U.S.C. § 201, 5 C.F.R. 2635, DoD 5500.7-R, Government security regulations, the Procurement Integrity Act, the Anti-Kickback Act of 1986, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977, and all federal and state laws and laws and regulations that apply to U.S. Government employees and interactions with U.S. Government employees.
